“The European Higher Education Area and the new changes introduced in Spanish regulations, such as Royal Decree 1393/2007, of October 29, which establishes the organization of official university education and subsequent modifications (RD 861 of 2010, RD 534 of 2013, RD 975 of 2014 and RD 43 of 2015) establishes a new organization of university education that responds not only to a structural change but also promotes a change in teaching methodologies, which focuses the objective on the student’s learning process, in a context that now extends throughout life. To achieve these objectives, the design of a degree must reflect more elements than the mere description of the training contents.”

This new model conceives the curriculum as a project for the implementation of university education. As such a project, its approval requires the contribution of new elements such as:
- Justification.
- Objectives.
- Admission of students.
- Objectives.
- Contents.
- Planning.
- Resources.
- Expected results.
- Quality assurance system.
“All IMEP training, including Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, is managed through a quality assurance system (QAS) based on ISO9001:20015 and certified by EQA”
The autonomy in the design of the degree is also combined with an adequate system of evaluation and accreditation by the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA) and the Valencian Agency for Evaluation and Prospective (AVAP) of the Valencian Community, which will allow monitoring the effective execution of the teachings and informing society about their quality.
The specification of the verification and accreditation system will allow a balance between a greater capacity of universities to design degrees and accountability aimed at guaranteeing quality and improving information to society about the characteristics of the university offer.
The accreditation of a degree will be based on the verification of compliance with the project presented by the University.
WHY A QUALITY ASSURANCE SYSTEM?
The Quality Assurance System (QAS) aims to ensure the quality of the degrees of the Miguel Hernández University, through tools that:
“Facilitate compliance with quality standards, allow analysis of strengths and possible areas for improvement, guide strategic decision-making in terms of teaching quality, with the dual objective of complying with the requirements approved by the Ministry of Education in the verified reports of each degree and improving the quality of teaching and services provided”.
Those responsible for the QAS are in charge of monitoring the different aspects that confer to the degree such as the objectives, student admission, planning and development of the teachings, student orientation, academic and support staff, resources and services as well as the academic results and the transition to professional life.

HOW DO WE DO IT?
The verified degree report is the tool that serves as a guideline for the planning of the QAS.
The QAS has as a development tool the application for the accreditation and monitoring of the degrees.
This tool allows the integral monitoring (beginning, development and end) of the degrees by the Academic Degree Commission and/or Academic Director of Master’s Degree (person in charge of the degree) and the elaboration of the different annual documentation of the QAS by the Degree or Master’s Council in each academic year.
Annually, each IMEP degree:
- Prepares the analysis of the results through the Minutes of Review by the Management.
- Publishes the Results of the degree on the specific website of each degree, in the section “Degree Results Report”, tab “Official Degree Documentation”.
- Prepares the Improvement Plan.
- Holds different meetings for the coordination of the degree whose function, among others, is to allow coherence to the studies allowing the acquisition of competences by the students.
IMEP’s degrees are within the AVAP review and control system. Biennially, the monitoring of the degree is carried out, which serves as input for the improvement of the degree.
REVIEW OF RESULTS: INFORMATION ANALYSIS
The degree results report includes the information that is collected annually from the different IMEP stakeholders: students, graduates, teachers, and IMEP employers, for analysis by the Academic Degree Commission or Master’s Council, the monitoring of the minutes of review by the management of the previous year, the external monitoring reports (ANECA and/or AVAP) and the suggestions and complaints of the students.
It is carried out annually at the end of each academic year, prior to the Improvement Plan, as it serves as the basis for the elaboration of this.
This report is made by the Degree/Master’s Council and approved by the Regulatory Body and is the basis for the continuous improvement of the degree.
