Beyond the classroom

PRACTICAL METHODOLOGY

YOU WILL BE THE ACTOR OF YOUR LEARNING

Both in relation to their university education and Expert degrees, IMEP is a center where master classes (the classic lessons taught in a classroom) are not the only protagonists of our teaching.

Not by a long shot.
We start there, yes.
It is necessary, whether you like it or not.

If you do not have a theoretical foundation, you will not be able to put anything into practice. Although our sector is pure nerve, pure action, you need theoretical knowledge.

Because ‘Power without control is useless’, like that Pirelli ad with the sprinter Carl Lewis.

In the Events sector, as in life, first reflection. Then the action.

First the theory. Then the practice….

Then?

Well… not always.
At IMEP we like to combine it.

For this reason, in addition to the theoretical classes, we have a very practical academic offer. Where you will be much more than a student behind a notebook.

Because IMEP is a center that belongs to the same business group as one of the most important event companies in Spain, Esatur.

We handle accounts such as the European Parliament, the European Commission, or the Madrid-Barajas Airport.

And this profession requires thinking and acting almost at the same time.
It requires quick reflexes, tension and the ability to decide quickly.

That is also instilled at IMEP.

In addition, most of our professors are active professionals in the sector.

That is, we are event professionals, not (only) academics. We know what it is to design an event, it is what we do every day.

Action is part of our DNA.
And our students must also be that: action. Participation.

They cannot be (only) passive subjects listening to a professor in a classroom.

For this reason, from minute 1, in addition to the possibility of doing internships from the first day, you will be able to enjoy numerous activities that characterize our teaching.

These are:

These activities are not something specific.
They are not isolated initiatives that we do once a year.

As we were saying, it is our DNA: workshops or master classes are a backbone element of our teaching.

They are in our day to day.
So you will have to ‘get your hands dirty’. Do not settle at your desk and notes.

You will be, in short, the main actor of your own learning.

THE THEORY IN CLASS,
ALSO WITH A PRACTICAL APPROACH

In the IMEP classrooms, we combine different teaching methodologies in order to achieve quality objectives and academic excellence of the courses we offer.

That is why we develop master classes with a theoretical-practical approach:

On the other hand, as you already know, we maintain relationships with a great diversity of organizations.

These facilitate the approximation of the contents of the training activities, to the private and public sectors, so that students can make contact with the business and professional reality.

In addition, we have a service of personalized and group tutorials, aimed at guiding and complementing the training of students.

In short, we apply an active-participatory methodology in the field of event organization, protocol and institutional relations.

"MEET THE PROS"

NETWORKING & MASTER CLASS
WITH PRESTIGIOUS PROFESSIONALS

Networking is a practice developed by professionals, managers and entrepreneurs who meet to:

Master class by the vocalist of the group Varry Brava.

This practice, which is very conventional among professionals.

Well: “Meet the Pros” is a series of networking meetings between established professionals and our students, who experience these meetings during their studies.

Event and protocol professionals regularly come to IMEP to offer a master class, in a relaxed atmosphere, on the challenges and opportunities in our sector:

In any training given at IMEP, from the Degree to any Expert course, you can enjoy Meet The Pros throughout the course.

Can you imagine the opportunity that something like this means for a student who is in the 1st year of Degree with 18 years?

Or for a student of an Expert course, which is a one-year course?

“Meet The Pros” is another example of how we make our students stick to the industry.

'LIVE IMEP':

WORKSHOPS WITH PROFESSIONALS

With the aim of continuing to learn in an alternative and enjoyable way, ‘Vive IMEP’ is born to create synergies with professionals and colleagues and acquire knowledge in a much more practical way.

‘Vive IMEP’ includes practical workshops, very fun, so that you experience first-hand aspects related to events and protocol.

We propose some examples:

Wine tasting at IMEP facilities
Wine tasting at the IMEP facilities.

That is why we call this program ‘VIVE IMEP’. Because it is not about learning with us.

It is about feeling it.
About living it with your hands.

Our philosophy: that our students experience this profession from minute 1.

"CLASSROOM ON THE ROAD":

ACADEMIC FIELD TRIPS
TO COMPANIES AND INSTITUTIONS

Aula En Ruta is the program of activities that IMEP organizes outside the classroom.

Year after year we propose a series of visits to the most important companies and institutions within the field of event organization, protocol and international relations.

Our students travel to the main Spanish cities to get to know these organizations, which are of special interest for their professional development.

Students and professors at the Palacio de Congresos (Madrid).

Simultaneously, we involve them in fun and dynamic activities that allow them to share experiences with students from other trainings (degree, master’s, experts…).

The main objective is for them to learn how the most representative organizations in the sector work:

IMEP LABORATORY

YOU CREATE THE (REAL) EVENT.
FROM BEGINNING TO END

The “Event Laboratory” is an experimentation space where IMEP students have the possibility to work on real and collaborative projects to put into practice the knowledge they acquire during their degree, master’s or expert studies in event organization and protocol.

These active and participatory methodologies serve so that students have the possibility of putting into practice everything they have learned in areas as different as:

Students of the Expert in Festivals, doing internships with the singer Ruth Lorenzo.

The projects organized by and for IMEP students, advised by professors and professionals linked to the IMEP community, make it possible for our students to launch their own initiatives and face the challenges of launching projects of very diverse nature.
